William was born on 14 May 1913 to William Peter Thierry Jefferies and his wife Winifred (née Fuidge), of Clifton, Bristol.
He died while on active service near Chippenham in Wiltshire in June 1944. As he was a flying instructor we can surmise that he was probably based at nearby RAF Melksham, where aircrew were trained, and was probably killed while teaching an inexperienced pilot. This confirms how even RAF duties away from the front line could be dangerous. Jefferies is buried at Haycombe Cemetery in Bath.
