William was born on 9 March 1917 to Colonel Herbert Yeo and his wife Dorothy. At the College he was an all-rounder: School Prefect, Platoon Commander in the Officer Training Corps, member of the swimming and water polo teams, and winner of prizes in French and Classics.
During the war William served with the 1st Royal Tank Regiment, and died on active service in Libya during Operation Crusader, the successful attempt by the Allies to end the siege of Tobruk. Yeo left a widow, Joyce, and is buried at the Tobruk War Cemetery.
