Died of wounds, November 23rd 1941

Robert Morris was born on 31 January 1912 to Reginald and Vivienne Morris. After leaving the College he managed the office of a firm of estate agents, architects and surveyors in Esher, Surrey. In 1937 he married Betty Noble and they had a daughter, Jane.

When war began he joined the army immediately. Correspondence with Walter Hett shows that Robert was keen to be accepted for officer training, rather than being a member of the ranks, and wanted Hett to give him a reference. Although Hett did so, this did not seem to do the trick, and he spent his war as a gunner in the 1st Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment of the Royal Artillery. In May 1941 the regiment was posted to North Africa. Gunner Morris died on 23 November defending the Sidi Rezegh Airfield against the Germans. He is buried at the Knightsbridge War Cemetery in Libya.
