Flying Officer, RAF
Born: March 18th 1914
Died: October 28th 1940
Age at Death: 26
Killed, October 28th 1940
Born on 18 March 1914 in the UK into a globetrotting family – his father was Danish but worked for the Great Northern Telegraph Company in Japan.
Konstantine captained the fencing team at the College.
During the war he served in 49 Squadron of the RAF, flying the Hampden bomber.
On 28 October 1940 Konstantine and the rest of the crew were on the return flight after bombing Hamburg, when the plane was shot down by a Luftwaffe fighter. He managed to land his plane within a mile of the Skegness coast, but the four-man crew perished before help could arrive. Konstantine’s was the only body never found, so he is commemorated at the Runnymede Memorial to air force personnel who have no known grave.
