Ambulance Driver, RAMC
Born: August 11th 1894
Died: November 18th 1940

Age at Death: 46

Henry was British, but born in Pessac, France on 11 August 1894. When he entered the College his father was listed as Dr C.S. Vale.

Clearly a man of both bravery and conscience, he had an extremely varied life, earning his commission as an officer in the Royal Garrison Artillery in 1913 fighting in the Great War, but then leaving the Army to become a diplomat, serving in Bolivia and Chile. In 1930 he changed career yet again, resigning from the Foreign Office to enter the Church.

During the Second World War Vale volunteered as an ambulance driver for the Red Cross, and died in Catterick, Yorkshire. It is believed he was involved in a collision with a lorry.

Vale was buried in Garforth Cemetery in Yorkshire, and left a widow, Margarita, and son, Ricardo.
